The Westborough Community Chorus was founded in 1971 by the late Faith G. Newark, Music Director for 31 years.
The chorus is now under the direction of Andrew Milne, and has an average of 60-70 singers of all ages and backgrounds. The group presents two shows a year with 2 or 3 performances of each, a December holiday production with special segments for children, and an original themed May event. Both staged with original set designs and colorful dress. All vocal selections are memorized. The group has also shared our music at nursing homes, special town events and upon invitation.
One of the missions is to provide music scholarships to Westborough middle school and high school students for private music lessons. These scholarships are awarded each December in memory of deceased members and are funded by our productions, raffle baskets, yard sales, and generous donations. Our recipients perform during a special segment at the May show. The chorus also funds the Faith G. Newark Memorial Scholarship which is awarded annually, at graduation, to a Westborough High School senior who plans to pursue a career in music.
