Media Alert: Cultural Compact Signing
City of Worcester, Worcester Arts Council, Salisbury Cultural District, Worcester Cultural Coalition, and Massachusetts Cultural Council formally enter statewide cultural agreement
June 12, 2018, Worcester MA- the City of Worcester, Worcester Arts Council, Salisbury Cultural District, Worcester Cultural Coalition, and the Mass Cultural Council are pleased to announce a new and formal cultural relationship. All three partners, while formerly working on cultural activities to boost the local economy through creative expression, will now sign a Cultural Compact.
The Cultural Compact was designed by the Massachusetts Cultural Council to bolster a shared vision for cities and towns to recognize the power of culture and make communities better places for people to live, work and thrive.
With this agreement each partner will commit to the following principals: Leadership, Communication, Transparency, Accountability, and Engagement. Worcester is one of six cities hand selected to pilot this effort and initiative across the state of Massachusetts. The Compact includes basics, such as regular meetings and communication, but also Worcester-specific goals. Worcester is one of six pilot cities for this initiative across the state of Massachusetts.
